Apple could make a grand entry into the foldable smartphone segment this year with the iPhone Fold. The tech giant is reportedly preparing to launch its first foldable device for quite some time. Recent reports suggest what the iPhone Fold might look like and what features it might share with other iPhones. However, Apple has remained silent on the matter so far. Here are 5 major updates regarding the foldable iPhone.

Design and Build
According to reports, the iPhone Fold could come with an ultra-thin design, measuring just 5.6 mm thick when unfolded – even thinner than the iPhone Air. Furthermore, Apple is reportedly working on a book-style design for the iPhone Fold, which would set it apart from devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The phone will also reportedly use a Liquidmetal hinge for improved durability.

Display
The display is the most crucial aspect of a foldable smartphone. With its unique book-like form factor, the iPhone Fold will feature both the smallest and largest displays ever used in a modern iPhone. The cover screen could be a 5.25-inch OLED panel, while the inner display could be 7.8 inches. Both displays will reportedly support a 120Hz refresh rate.

Touch ID instead of Face ID
Reports also suggest that Apple might replace Face ID with a side-mounted Touch ID on the iPhone Fold. This would help in keeping the device thin. However, the foldable iPhone might feature a selfie camera on both displays, which could be 18 megapixels. On the back, the iPhone Fold could have a dual rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary lens and a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens.

Pro-Level Performance
The iPhone Fold is expected to feature the most powerful A20 Pro chipset. This chipset could also power the iPhone 18 Pro models. This means users will get flagship-level performance from the foldable iPhone.

Launch and Expected Price
The iPhone Fold could also launch in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The base iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and the next-generation iPhone Air might launch in early 2027. Reports suggest that the foldable iPhone could be priced at around $2,400 in the US, which is approximately ₹2,15,000.
