Ahead of the opening T20 match against New Zealand in Nagpur, India’s T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, along with four teammates, went on a jungle safari at the Pench Tiger Reserve on Monday.
The group included wicketkeepers Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan, batter Rinku Singh, and spinner Ravi Bishnoi. The visit to the reserve, which spans parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, was a private outing, according to officials from the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department.
Pench Tiger Reserve Field Director J. Deva Prasad told PTI that the players arrived in Seoni on Saturday night and stayed at a resort near the reserve. They undertook the safari on Monday morning and departed for Nagpur around noon.
During the safari, the cricketers travelled through the forest in an open jeep, interacted with fans, and posed for photographs. A forest department official said the players spotted leopards and other wildlife, though no tigers were sighted during the excursion.
Wildlife photographer Rituraj Rahi Jaiswal from Pench said he presented Suryakumar Yadav with an annual calendar featuring photographs of tigers, leopards, and other wildlife when the team returned to Nagpur for the first T20 match.
The players also shared photos and videos from their jungle safari on social media platforms.
