Davos/Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren participated in the high-level roundtable meeting “Delivering Sustainability at Scale: Pathways for Global Transformation” organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) at the World Economic Forum.

Hemant Soren held a meeting with Tata Steel in Davos, proposed investment of Rs 11 thousand crores, also received offers from Swedish companies.

Aim to provide direct benefits to the people of Jharkhand

Addressing global policy-makers, industry leaders and institutional investors on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that Jharkhand does not want to remain only an exporter of minerals and natural resources. The aim of the state government is to move forward in the direction of value addition of resources, sustainable industrialization and people-centric development, so that the people of Jharkhand get direct benefits. “Our objective is not just to exploit natural resources, but to ensure their responsible and sustainable use, thereby creating employment opportunities and improving the quality of life of people.” He stressed that sustainability not only means environmental protection but also livelihoods, skill development and social inclusion, especially for local and tribal communities.
The Chief Minister mentioned the initiatives of the State Government through which employment generation is being promoted through mineral based downstream industries, renewable energy, green technology and human resource development. He stressed the need to maintain environmental and social balance with economic development.

Emphasis on development of tourism also

The Chief Minister also highlighted the huge and till now largely untapped tourism potential of Jharkhand. He said the state wants to develop eco-tourism, nature-based tourism and cultural tourism as an important pillar of sustainable development, thereby generating employment at the local level and ensuring conservation of natural and cultural heritage. Reiterating the long-term development vision, the Chief Minister invited global investors and partners to collaborate with Jharkhand in the areas of responsible mining, sustainable manufacturing, renewable energy and tourism infrastructure. Jharkhand’s participation in this Global Sustainability Dialogue organized by CII reflects the state’s commitment to linking economic growth with environmental responsibility and social inclusion.
