Madras High Court reserves decision on the release of Vijay Thalapathy’s film ‘Jana Nayakan’

Desk. Today, the case to the release of Vijay Thalapathy’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’ was heard in Madras High Court. The bench of Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Srivastava and Justice G Arul Murugan heard this case. After hearing the case for several hours, Madras High Court has reserved its decision in this matter. Madras High Court has reserved its verdict on the appeal filed by CBFC. In this, the order of the single judge has been challenged, in which the film ‘Jana Nayakan’ was directed to be given UA certificate.

The court said that the hearing of ‘Jan Nayakan’ case cannot be done quickly. Other cases will be heard first. After hearing other cases, the court started hearing regarding the film ‘Jana Nayakan’ case. Talking about the ‘Jana Nayakan’ case, the makers of Vijay’s film and the censor board are at loggerheads. Due to this case, the future of the film ‘Jana Nayakan’ is hanging in the balance. A lawyer of Madras High Court says that all the cases which are in the hearing list today, can be heard.

    Actor Vijay is leaving acting and entering politics. In such a situation, his last film was going to be ‘Jana Nayakan’, it was to be released on 9 January. But it did not get certificate from the censor. In such a situation, the filmmakers approached the Madras High Court. On January 9, a single judge bench of the Madras High Court ordered the Censor Board to grant a censor certificate to the film. Later the Division Bench of Madras High Court stayed this order. In such a situation, the makers of ‘Jana Nayakan’ approached the Supreme Court challenging the interim order of the Madras High Court. But the Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition.

    Today this case is being heard in Madras High Court. Regarding ‘Jana Nayakan’, it was revealed that there is something in it that hurts the sentiments of the minority community. Apart from this, there were many things in the film on which the censor had objections. In such a situation, there was a delay in giving the certificate to the film. When ‘Jana Nayakan’ did not get any support from the Censor Board, the makers approached the court. The makers of the film filed a petition in the Madras High Court on 6 January. In the petition, the makers of the film said that due to the delay in the release of ‘Jana Nayakan’, there could be a loss of about Rs 500 crore. Now it remains to be seen what decision the Madras High Court takes on this matter today i.e. on 20th January.
