A reunion between Prince Harry and King Charles could be a "real possibility" ahead of one major event next year. The Duke of Sussex is rumoured to be returning to the UK this summer to attend a one-year countdown ceremony for the Invictus Games in Birmingham next year.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams predicted that there is a "real possibility" of the King meeting his son this July ahead of the 2027 games, if Harry brings along his children, Archie and Lilibet. Richard told The Mirror: "There is so much hostility over here towards the Sussexes, and if they're hoping to smooth the path with Charles, a reunion with the grandchildren would be an obvious way of doing that."

King Charles has not seen his grandchildren since June 2022, when they flew over for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, so a reunion is well overdue.

Mr Fitzwilliams ruled out any possibility of King Charles attending this year's countdown, explaining: "I don't think the King will be involved in anything to do with the Games this summer, but I do think it's a real possibility that he will see Harry and his grandchildren, and that probably means seeing Meghan too."

Prince Harry was previously joined at the one-year countdown ceremonies in Canada and Germany by his wife, Meghan Markle.

If the Duchess does accompany Harry to the UK this summer, it will be her first visit since 2022, when they attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Duke of Sussex has always expressed immense pride in the Invictus Games, which he founded in 2014 to honour wounded service members and veterans through sport, and it is understood that another meet-up could be on the cards next year.

Insiders have claimed Harry will invite King Charles to open the 2027 event, so his father can see his greatest work in action.

The organisers confirmed that members of the Royal Family will be invited and welcomed, but that invitations had not yet been issued.
