The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman has admitted that there’s a cost to being host of two of the most popular programmes in the United Kingdom.

Claudia, 54, hosts The Traitors and Celebrity Traitors, both of which have become stratospherically popular in recent years.

However, this has come with a difficult balance at home as Claudia admits that she can’t even tell her family, leading to shock and awe in the event of a surprise result.

When Claudia was asked by Best UK if friends and family ever try to get her to spill Traitors spoilers, she replied: “Never. Genuinely, I’d lose my job.

“Plus, there’s no fun in knowing. When Alan won, my husband and youngest son couldn’t stop screaming and crying and shouting, ‘but you knew’. They had a toastie and calmed down.”

As well as expressing her love for the show, Claudia also showed her admiration for Scotland where the show is filmed ahead of this season’s finale on Friday (January 23).

Claudia said: “It’s a privilege to spend so much time surrounded by the jaw-dropping landscape…There’s something about the expanse of sky, the breathtaking lochs and the flora and fauna. I am officially in love with gorse….Not only that, the people we meet in Inverness are the warmest and greatest.”

As The Traitors has proved popular up and down the country, many have begun talking about what goes on behind the scenes, including where the contestants sleep.

Whilst much of the filming to do with The Traitors is done around Ardross Castle, this isn’t actually where the contestants sleep after filming is done for the day, instead they sleep in a hotel or hotels.

In an interview with The Daily Beast, host of the US version of the show, Scot Alan Cumming revealed: “They all stayed in the airport hotel in the Inverness airport. How glamorous – you come to Scotland, and you stay in the Inverness Airport Hotel.”

This set-up isn’t just reserved for The Traitors, but the celebrity version of the show too. On his Reel Talk podcast, television presenter Jonathan Ross said: “We all stayed in the same hotel, I believe, but I can't say that for sure because you never saw who was in which room or where.

“We stayed at the Inverness Airport Hotel, which was lovely. It was fine. You wouldn't normally stay there for a few nights at a time, I guess.”

However, speaking on the Dish podcast, Claudia suggested that the contestants actually sleep in different hotels. She said: “Everybody is man-marked, they have somebody who is looking after them, and when they leave the castle, they don't see each other until they arrive at breakfast.”
