Director Sudha Kongara ’s latest film ‘ Parasakthi ’, starring Sivakarthikeyan , which hit the screens on January 10 recently stirred up a storm for its strong stance against the anti-Hindi agitations. Although the film opened up to mixed reviews, it was also appreciated for its grand vision. Featuring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role, the film also boasts performances by Atharvaa, Sreeleela, and Ravi Mohan while being backed by the expertise of cinematographer Ravi K Chandran and editor Sathish Suriya. Now, in an interview, Kongara revealed how she had considered Abhishek Bachchan and Vijay Deverakonda for cameo appearances.
Sudha Kongara’s cameo vision for ‘Parasakthi’
In a recent interview with Cineulagam , Sudha Kongara discussed the cameo roles and the initial concepts behind them. She stated that her idea was to bring together actors from multiple languages to play the characters related to the anti-Hindi movement in history. “Right from the beginning, I was looking for actors of various languages to feature the historical personalities in my film,” she said.
In fact, she even asked Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan to do a cameo, to have well-known figures from all parts of the industry included. “I asked Abhishek Bachchan if he was interested in doing one such cameo in the film,” said Sudha, showing her wide-ranging ambitions.
Sudha Kongara also revealed that she approached Vijay Deverakonda for a cameo role, but he was unavailable due to scheduling issues. Additionally, she mentioned that the film could not include too many special appearances as it could have altered the character of the film. “We couldn’t fit in too many cameos either,” she explained.
Interestingly, Sudha Kongara had felt a pang of sadness and admiration when she saw the cameo treatment in 'Jailer.' "When they used cameos in 'Jailer,' I regretted that my idea was hijacked and used in the other film; however, they did it wonderfully well," he confessed. She opined that the idea would suit her film given the language-specific plot.
Sudha Kongara's long-standing admiration for Vijay Deverakonda
The interview also touched upon the already established admiration Sudha has for Vijay Deverakonda. In 2020, the actor took to social media to express his admiration for Sudha’s direction of ‘ Soorarai Pottru ’ and stated his wish to collaborate with her soon. “I will work with you soon,” was the compliment he paid her in this post. However, despite the camaraderie, a collaboration between the two hasn’t translated yet.
