Jamie Lee Curtis’ upcoming movie adaptation of an iconic TV show has found a director.

Curtis is attached to star in a movie adaptation of Murder She Wrote. Created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson, and William Link, the original crime drama television series starred Angela Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher. It ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996.

Per Varietythe new Murder She Wrote movie will be directed by Jason Moore.

Moore is best known for directing 2012’s Pitch Perfect with Anna Kendrick, which launched a franchise at Universal Pictures. He then made 2015’s Sisters with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, along with 2022’s Shotgun Wedding starring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel.

Additionally, Moore directed the pilot episode for Elle, the upcoming Legally Blonde prequel TV show that is expected to premiere on Prime Video later this year. He’s also directed episodes of shows like Dawson’s Creek, Everwood, One Tree Hill, Brothers & Sisters, and Trophy Wife.

Deadline’s article further notes, “In April, he will direct the revival of the Tony Award-winning Avenue Q on the West End. After that, he’s set to direct two book adaptations: Guncle, based on the bestseller by Steven Rowley, and Emma Straub’s novel This Time Tomorrow.”

Plot details for the Murder She Wrote movie remain under wraps at this time. Nobody has been publicly cast in the film as of yet besides Curtis. The script comes from Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, while Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Aditya Sood are attached as producers.

A release date for the Murder She Wrote movie has not been announced by Universal. Some of the original show is currently available to stream on Prime Video at this time, while more episodes can be purchased on various digital outlets.
