The Traitors fans admitted they were "switching off" the programme just minutes into the latest episode. The BBC show returned on Wednesday (January 21), picking up immediately after Traitors Stephen and Rachel made their choice of who would receive the ceremonial dagger. The ceremonial dagger gives someone the power to cast two votes at the next roundtable. The following morning, Claudia Winkleman revealed that James had been given the dagger, sparking chaos as everyone scrambled to figure out why he was chosen.
Stephen and Rachel hoped the suspicion would fall on Matthew, which is exactly what happened. Despite claiming this would have been an absurd move on his part because James was already suspicious of him, many of the Faithfuls weren't convinced. This enraged viewers, with many questioning how the Faithfuls could be so easily swayed by Stephen and Rachel.
One wrote: "Had to turn this off for the first time in my life, the faithful are so jarring, no one suspecting the traitors, I'll come back in 45 mins to read the spoilers."
"Same," a second responded as another shared: "Ngl it was fun at first but watching traitors with stupid faithfuls towards the end is getting boring now."
A fourth fumed: "At this point in the game the faithfuls left are always the ones that have no bloody clue."
Another weighed in: "Lord the rest of these Faithfuls really are completely helpless."
Frustrated by the Faithfuls, fans have now revealed they hope Stephen and Rachel walk away victorious, commending the game they have played.
One said: "This is one of the only series where I just want them to give the traitors the money and get it over with."
Another asked if Stephen and Rachel could be given the prize money now, while a third echoed: "Just hand Rachel the money now."
Tensions reached boiling point at the roundtable, with suspicion falling firmly on James and Matthew, while Stephen and Rachel's names were not mentioned once.
James was gunning for Matthew, and attempted to convince everyone at the table to join him in voting. After receiving the most votes, Matthew was eliminated from the competition.
But Matty left his co-star's jaws on the floor when he revealed himself to be a Faithful, with James throwing his head into his hands.
Claudia was also left raging as she declared: "Faithfuls. What were you thinking? I am genuinely speechless." Speaking to the camera, James admitted he felt "dreadful" for the way he behaved towards Matty, adding: "It's soul-destroying."
