Great news is coming for young people preparing for government jobs in the postal department. It is expected that the notification for the India Post GDS Vacancy 2026 recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) will be released in February. India Post GDS Vacancy 2026: Post Details
Under the Gramin Dak Sevak recruitment 2026, appointments will be made to various posts in the postal department. These include Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM), and Dak Sevak positions. All these posts are created to strengthen postal services in rural areas.

Educational Qualification
Candidates applying for these posts must have passed the 10th class from a recognized board. Mathematics and English subjects in the 10th grade are mandatory. Along with this, knowledge of the local language of the state for which the application is being submitted is required. The candidate should have basic computer knowledge and should also know how to ride a bicycle.

Age Limit
The minimum age for candidates is 18 years, and the maximum age is 40 years. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories will get a relaxation of 5 years in the maximum age limit, while the OBC category will get a relaxation of 3 years.

Selection Process
There will be no written examination. Candidates will be selected based on a merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the 10th class. Candidates with higher educational qualifications will not receive any additional benefit. Candidates selected in the merit list will be called for document verification by the concerned Divisional Head.

Salary Details
The salary for the Branch Postmaster post will be between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 29,380 per month. For the Assistant Branch Postmaster and Dak Sevak posts, the salary will be between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 24,470 per month. 

What is the application fee?
Candidates from the General and OBC categories will have to pay an application fee of Rs. 100.  However, the application process will be completely free for SC, ST, and all female candidates. Details about the application process will be made available on the official website after the notification is released.
