Karan Johar recalls asking Rani Mukerji if she will ever be in the spy verse or the 'Dhoom' franchise; 'I have…'

Rani Mukerji and Karan Johar recently engaged in a conversation to celebrate her 30 years in cinema. During the conversation, the actress opened up about several topics, including Aditya Chopra 's spy universe and other film franchises. KJo recalled asking Rani if she would be seen in any of the interconnected movie series. Let's take a look at what she had to say.

KJo recounted, "I remember asking you, ‘Rani, he has a spy-verse, he has a Dhoom-verse, when are you in his universe?’ And you turned around and said, ‘Darling, I have my own.'"

For those unaware, Rani Mukerji was referring to her ' Mardaani ' film series. Karan Johar said, "You were absolutely right. 'Mardaani' is your female-led cop-verse . It’s the first… We talk about the Singham-verse, spy-verse and the horror-comedy-verse. But you have been leading a female cop-verse."

Karan Johar mentioned, “This is part three, which is releasing… and you’ve led it silently and strongly… never made a big deal about it." The filmmaker further praised the first installment and added, "Part three, in this time, which is led by so much testosterone and alpha male energy. You’ve been showing that in this verse forever."

More about ' Mardaani 3 'Rani Mukerji is set to reprise her role of Shivani Shivaji Roy in the third installment of the movie. The film sensitively deals with the topic of girl child trafficking in the country. The trailer had received a lot of appreciation and love from the audience.

Directed by Abhiraaj Minawala, the film also stars Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad, apart from Rani Mukerji. Backed by Aditya Chopra, the film will be out in theaters on January 30, 2026.
