A doctor has shared a 'chronic deficit' warning, he believes is impacting all of us. Dr Rangan Chatterjee, a doctor who has featured on numerous shows across BBC, ITV and Channel 4, has explained all to his 1.6m Instagram followers.
Known for his role in the BBC's Doctor in the House and as a regular guest on This Morning, Dr Chatterjee is also an author and podcast host. In a new update on Thursday, January 22, the medical expert said: "I believe we are all suffering from a chronic deficit of control."
Explaining, he added that humans "evolved in tight-knit tribes" and had "no knowledge of what was happening on the other side of the savannah, let alone the planet". The doctor added that we would once only be concerned with shelter, food and safety for the coming days and that "when there was a problem for our tribe, there was usually something practical we could to to help solve it".

Today, however, we "continually absorb a torrent of global crises, most of which we have no influence over at all". This, Dr Chatterjee said, causes us to feel panicked and powerless.
He continued: "While we may not be able to actually control the reality around us, we can get better and feel more in control within ourselves. When we learn to do this we become much less dependent on the external world going a certain way.
"What's most important is that we feel as if we are in control. Is this feeling of control an illusion? Partly, it is. Does it matter? Not at all."
Captioning the post Dr Chatterjee added: "I truly believe that happiness is a skill we can learn. In Happy Mind, Happy Life, I break it down into simple, practical steps that anyone can start working on, without needing lots of time, money or willpower.
"No matter where you’re starting from, my hope is that this new edition helps you feel calmer, more content, and experience more joy in your everyday life."
