Juhu Beach witnessed an unusual yet energising sight this Sunday as eco-friendly brand Beco brought together sustainability and youth culture through a beach clean-up followed by a high-energy coffee rave. Held on January 18, the initiative drew a strong turnout from Gen Z participants, marking a refreshing shift in how environmental action is being reimagined.

The day began early with volunteers gathering along the shoreline to participate in a large-scale clean-up drive. Armed with gloves, bags, and an unmistakable sense of purpose, young participants took charge of restoring one of Mumbai’s most iconic beaches. What stood out was not just the enthusiasm, but the willingness of the crowd to “show up first, clean first,” a sentiment echoed across social media the following day.
Once the clean-up concluded, the beach transformed into a celebratory space with Beco’s coffee rave, blending music, caffeine, and community. The post-clean-up gathering struck a chord with attendees, reinforcing the idea that sustainability doesn’t have to be serious or boring; it can be social, fun, and high-energy.
Promoted through Beco’s Instagram handle (@beco.india), the event saw registrations fill up quickly, underlining the growing appetite among young Indians for purpose-driven experiences. This marked Beco’s first beach clean-up event at Juhu, aligning closely with the brand’s long-standing commitment to eco-conscious living and responsible consumption.
While social media chatter speculated about influencer participation, there were no confirmed reports linking creators such as Rida Tharana, Unnati Manav, or Palak Yadav Chabbra to the event. However, the format and visibility of the initiative reflected a familiar Gen Z-first approach, where community action and social sharing go hand in hand.
Juhu Beach has long been a focal point for clean-up drives in Mumbai. In recent years, it has hosted multiple initiatives, from government-led campaigns in 2024 involving senior officials to brand-driven and NGO-led efforts with hundreds of volunteers. Beco’s clean-up adds a contemporary layer to this legacy, signalling how brands are increasingly stepping in to mobilise youth for environmental causes.
By combining civic responsibility with cultural relevance, Beco’s clean-up-and-rave model demonstrates how sustainability can move beyond obligation and into aspiration, a message that clearly resonated with Mumbai’s Gen Z this weekend.
