Celebrity Traitors star Alan Carr has shared what Claudia Winkleman is really like behind the scenes. The presenter has hosted the UK version of The Traitors for four years, as well as the celebrity edition last year. Prior to joining the show, Claudia was best known for her co-hosting role on Strictly Come Dancing alongside Tess Daly.

Often seen as the less serious of the presenting duo, Claudia was regularly spotted laughing with the stars in the 'Claudatorium'. Fans also got to see more of her personality when she fronted her own BBC Radio 2 show on Saturdays, from 2021 to 2024.

However, The Traitors requires a far more serious approach, meaning viewers see Claudia in a very different light.

Sharing his thoughts on Claudia after winning the celebrity version of the show last year, Alan revealed what she was like off camera. Speaking on the Table Manners podcast alongside Amanda Holden, he said: "I love Claudia," to which his fellow guest agreed.

The 49-year-old went on to explain that while she remained serious during filming, she often broke character when the cameras were not rolling.

“In the castle, she keeps herself to herself which you have to because you can’t [give anything a way],” he shared.

“And when you see her she’ll give you a cheeky little smile, but it’s not like she’s going, ‘Oh Alan what are you doing?’”

During the chat, the comedian also admitted that Amanda was the first person he called to discuss his experience on the show.

Alan was crowned the winner in a final alongside Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga, after successfully deceiving the faithfuls.

Reflecting on the three weeks spent in the castle, Alan confessed to immediately offloading to Amanda despite having signed an NDA.

“When I came out of The Traitors, I told her everything,” he admitted.

Recalling the phone call, the Britain’s Got Talent judge added: “He went, ‘I’m out, I signed an NDA [but] do you want to know or not?’

“And I went, ‘I want to know Alan’. I love gossip but I didn’t tell a single person because I was so terrified, and I didn’t want to get him into any trouble,” she added.

In response, Alan said: “I had to offload it’s so intense in there, no phone, no laptop.”

Meanwhile, the current civilian series of The Traitors is nearing its conclusion, with seven players remaining.

On Thursday night, viewers will find out who is next to be murdered, before the remaining contestants face another banishment in the hope of eliminating a traitor.

If a traitor makes it through to the final without being voted out, they will take the entire prize pot. However, if all finalists are faithfuls, the money will be split equally.

The Traitors continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One
