Bengaluru: Murali Krishna, son of renowned playback singer S Janaki, passed away following a heart attack on Thursday, January 22. He was 65.
According to reports, Murali Krishna suffered a cardiac arrest at his residence in Hyderabad, where he had recently returned. He was the only son of S Janaki.
Murali Krishna was known for his work in classical dance. A Bharatanatyam artiste, he had also worked as a choreographer for several films. His mother, S Janaki, is one of India’s most respected playback singers with a long career in multiple languages.
Murali Krishna was married to Uma, a trained Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi dancer. The couple has two daughters. They were later separated.
Sources said Murali Krishna had lived in Mysuru for some time, during which his mother S Janaki stayed with him.
Several singers and personalities from the music fraternity have expressed condolences over his death.
