The Traitors viewers fear Stephen has made a catastrophic error that could ultimately cost him the game.
The finale of the popular BBC series - which is presented by Claudia Winkleman - is rapidly approaching, and audiences are eager to discover whether Traitors Stephen and Rachel succeed in defeating the Faithful contestants and claiming the prize money.
Thus far the duo have controlled the gameplay with their cunning scheming in the turret, whilst also ensuring they protect one another when it comes to deflecting suspicion away from them.
They have maintained their pledge not to accuse each other, but during the episode broadcast on Wednesday (January 21), Stephen appeared to believe Rachel was preparing to betray him.
Now supporters are concerned it will mean he will make a blunder and end up undermining his own game, reports Wales Online.
As the duo discussed who to murder that evening, Stephen said: "I just need to know now that we are going to make it to the end."
Rachel told him: "I've made one promise since I've got here and I've told you I'm not breaking it."
But she continued: "Please remember, nobody can stick up for one another at this point. And if you hear anybody repeat that I am talking about you, it's because I have to, to protect our alliance."
Stephen subsequently confessed in a piece to camera that he felt "worried", stating: "Maybe I've been blind because I have been actively not discussing Rachel if anyone ever brought her up. She might not necessarily write my name on her slate, but that doesn't stop her sowing seeds of doubt against me."
One viewer then observed on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Call me naive but I didn't take it like this at all!"
"She didn't say that at all did she! He misunderstood it," remarked someone else, whilst another viewer posted: "Yeah I think he may have interpreted that weirdly."
Someone then predicted: "The dramatic thing to happen would be that he thinks she's going to throw him under the bus so he gets in there first, gets her banished only to realise she never meant to get rid of him. (Then he kills himself out of guilt)."
Another fan commented: "Yes, she has made Stephen very nervous and now, he will have to sow seeds against her.
"Silly move, together they were stronger."
