How to store peas for a long time?

If you want to eat pea-pulao or pea-paneer in summer, then know how to store it. For this, first boil the peas lightly or steam them. After this, dry it completely in oven or food dehydrator at low temperature. After drying, fill them in an airtight jar and keep them in a cool and dry place. When you want to use it, you can soak it in water for some time and add it to vegetables or pulses.

Easy hack to store peas

This is the most common way to store peas for a long time. For this, first of all wash the peas thoroughly. Now boil water in a vessel and add some salt to it. Put peas in boiling water for just 2-3 minutes, this is called blanching. Immediately after this, put the peas in ice cold water, so that their cooking stops there. Now dry the peas thoroughly and fill them in an airtight freezer bag or container and keep them in the freezer. In this way peas remain green, sweet and tasty for months.

Freeze directly without boiling

If you are in a hurry, this method is for you. Spread the peeled peas in a tray without washing them, taking care that the peas do not stick to each other. Keep this tray directly in the freezer for 2–3 hours. When the peas are frozen, put them in a freezer bag and remove the air. This will keep the peas frozen separately and it will be easy to take them out as per need.

If you are going to use peas within a week or two, then there is no need for freezer. Dry the peas thoroughly and keep them in a clean and dry airtight container. Keep this container in the coldest part of the refrigerator and take care that moisture does not go away at all, otherwise the peas can spoil quickly.
