Palaash Muchhal cheating case: Filmmaker and composer Palaash Muchhal is facing serious allegations after a Maharashtra-based man accused him of cheating him out of Rs 40 lakh under the pretext of a film investment. The matter is currently under police scrutiny, though an FIR is yet to be officially registered.

According to a PTI report, a 34-year-old actor and producer from Sangli district has approached the local police, claiming financial fraud. The complainant, identified as Vidnyan Mane, submitted a written application to the Sangli Superintendent of Police earlier this week, seeking legal action against the filmmaker.

What are the allegations against Palaash Muchhal?

As per the complaint, Vidnyan alleged that he met Palaash in Sangli on December 5, 2023. During this meeting, the latter reportedly pitched an investment opportunity in his upcoming film Nazaria. Mane claimed that Muchhal told him he could come on board as a producer and assured him lucrative returns once the film was released on OTT platforms.

The filmmaker allegedly promised that an investment of Rs 25 lakh would fetch Mane a profit of Rs 12 lakh. Along with financial gains, Mane also claimed he was offered an acting role in the film as part of the deal. Trusting these assurances, Mane stated that he invested a larger sum, amounting to Rs 40 lakh.

However, the complainant alleged that neither the promised returns nor the acting opportunity materialised. He further claimed that attempts to recover the money or get clarity on the project failed, prompting him to approach the police.

A senior police official confirmed that a complaint has been received and is currently being verified. “We are examining the documents and statements submitted by the complainant. A decision on registering an FIR will be taken after preliminary inquiry,” the official said, as quoted by PTI.

Palaash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana

The allegations come at a time when Palaash has already been under public attention due to developments in his personal life. In November 2025, his wedding to Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana was called off. The couple was earlier set to marry on November 23, but the wedding was postponed due to health issues in Mandhana’s family.

On December 7, Smriti confirmed that the wedding had been cancelled. Soon after, Palaash addressed the speculation on social media, writing, “It’s been very difficult for me to see people react so easily to baseless rumors about something that has been the most sacred to me. This is the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully, holding on to my beliefs.”
