WBSSC Merit List: The West Bengal School Service Commission has published the merit list for the recruitment of 12,445 assistant teachers in classes 11 and 12 of state-aided schools. An official said that interviews will be held in Kolkata on January 27-28, in Jhargram on January 28-29, and in Jalpaiguri on January 29-30.

The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) conducted the second State Level Selection Test (SLST) for the recruitment of assistant teachers for secondary and higher secondary classes in September. There are 23,212 vacancies for secondary classes, while 12,445 posts will be filled in the higher secondary section.

The merit list for secondary classes (9th and 10th) was published on November 24, and the final list of candidates who qualified in the interviews was published on December 12.
12,445 Candidates' Names on the List
The merit list published on Wednesday evening contains 12,445 names, and a waiting list of approximately 6,000 candidates has also been released. Many of the school teachers whose jobs were canceled by a Supreme Court order on April 3 last year have found a place on the merit list.

Rupa Karmakar, a member of the Deserving Teachers Forum, said that while she found a place on both the secondary and higher secondary merit lists, the names of several 'innocent' colleagues appeared on the waiting list. She said, "We hope that the WBSSC will consider their cases as we have all been victims of institutional corruption."

An official of the WBSSC said that most of the 'innocent' candidates who appeared in the recruitment examination in September 2025 have found a place on both merit lists.

He said, "Everything is being done transparently as per the court's directions."
