In a shocking incident, a monkey snatched a 20-day-old infant from her mother’s arms and threw her into a well in Chhattisgarh’s Janjgir-Champa district. Remarkably, the newborn survived after her diaper helped keep her afloat until she was rescued.
According to reports, the baby’s mother, Sunita Rathore, was walking outside her house with the infant in her arms when one of four to five monkeys jumping on a nearby rooftop suddenly lunged at her. The monkey grabbed the newborn and quickly climbed a nearby tree.
As family members and villagers raised an alarm and attempted to scare the monkey away by shouting, throwing stones and bursting firecrackers, the animal panicked and dropped the baby. The infant fell directly into a nearby well filled with water, triggering panic across the village.
In a miraculous turn of events, air trapped inside the baby’s diaper acted like a life jacket, allowing her to float on the surface instead of sinking. Villagers and family members immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the infant using buckets and ropes.
