A celebrated Devon theme park is set to broaden its collection of family-friendly thrill rides throughout 2026, with the announcement of two exciting new attractions scheduled to debut in spring and summer.
Crealy, located in Clyst St Mary near Exeter, secured accolades for Best Theme Park for Families (Small) and Best Theme Park for Toddlers (Small) for its Sooty Land experience at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards.
These forthcoming attractions will complement the existing portfolio of more than 60 rides and experiences at Crealy, which already features favourites such as the Tidal Wave log flume and the distinctive Roman-inspired Maximus Rollercoaster.
Come spring, the venue will unveil Pirates' Plummet, destined to become the South West's loftiest drop tower attraction. Previously operating at Hampshire's Paultons Park under the name Magma, the ride is being relocated to Devon and reimagined with swashbuckling pirate theming, offering thrills for guests exceeding 110cm in height.
Young people and adolescents must measure over 130cm to experience the ride without supervision.
The summer months will witness the introduction of Rotor, promoted as the South West's inaugural inverted attraction. This high-velocity thrill ride will rotate and invert passengers, delivering a gravity-defying sensation.
Limited details have emerged about this addition thus far, although preliminary concept images depict riders secured firmly in their seats. Crealy's theme park, which first opened its doors in the late 80s, has been a cherished family-friendly destination for decades.
In a recent press statement, the park expressed its ambition to "expand its appeal to older children while continuing to offer memorable experiences for all generations."
The park has introduced several new attractions over the years. In 2022, it unveiled Sooty Land, the UK's first theme park area dedicated to the beloved children's show, Sooty.
The attraction features The Sooty Show Live, where guests can enjoy performances from Sooty, Sweep, and their friends - a spectacle sure to delight audiences of all ages.
Additionally, four Sooty-themed rides have been added, including Sweep's Flying Circus and Izzy Wizzy Let's Get Dizzy. Young visitors also have the opportunity to meet their favourite characters at photo sessions.
In 2012, Crealy expanded its offerings to include on-site accommodation options such as lodges, glamping, and camping. Families can opt for stay and play packages that combine accommodation with unlimited access to the park throughout their holiday.
Choosing to stay at Crealy provides easy access to Exeter, where visitors can explore historical landmarks like Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum, housed in an impressive Victorian building. A short trip to the coast leads to the charming seaside town of Exmouth, known for its expansive sandy beach and quintessential seaside atmosphere.
Exmouth also boasts the World of Country Life, a captivating farming museum with both indoor and outdoor exhibits, as well as the delightful Exmouth Museum, offering a deep dive into South Devon's rich history.
