The State Bank of India (SBI) on Friday said it has contributed a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds for an early intervention program for 200 children with developmental delays in Kolar District.
The bank also funded 300 clubfoot braces for 150 children affected by clubfoot deformity to prevent relapses after correction and enable children to walk, move independently and lead normal lives, the state-owned lender said in a statement.
SBI Bengaluru Circle chief general manager Joohi Smita Sinha handed over the equipment to the NGOs in the presence of General Managers VN Sarma, Prafulla Kumar Jena and Lekha Menon and other senior officials. On receiving the support, the NGOs thanked the bank.
Last month, the bank announced contributions towards community development and social welfare.
They included, upgradation of 35 Government Primary Schools across Karnataka; Provision of ENT diagnostic and therapeutic equipment to the ENT Wing of Bagchi–Parthasarathy Hospital, IISc Medical School; A 50,000-tree plantation drive at Tumkur University campus; Donation of an E-Ambulance to the Madras Engineer Group (MEG) & Centre, Bengaluru, an engineering regiment of the Indian Army.
