Uttoxeter race named 'Terrible Titties and Other Bitties Chase' is not a boob

A racing executive has hailed the work of colleagues for the unusual naming of a horse race at Uttoxeter on Saturday, explaining it was not a boob. The popular Midlands track stages a seven race card, which will be shown in its entirety by Sky Sports Racing.

All the contests have sponsors but the third race on the schedule has been given a unique title, the Terrible Titties and Other Bitties Handicap Chase. T

he race, worth £12,800, has attracted five runners with the sponsor presenting a cash prize to the best turned out horse and a memento to winning connections.

The name of the race initially stumped punters but an explanation has emerged from Rebecca Davies, head of industry partners for the track’s owner Arena Racing Compay.

She said in a post: “Brilliant work by colleagues at Uttoxeter racecourse with the 'Terrible Titties & Other Bitties Handicap Chase' this weekend.

“What the ****, how were they allowed a race title like that, what did it mean, was it a mistake….. it got us talking in the office and asking questions which I assume was the sponsor’s objective.

“Terrible Titties is actually a breast cancer support charity, providing emotional support for women and families affected by cancer in Staffordshire. Visit them at terribletitties.org to find out more.

“Brilliant example of a racecourse working with their local community, and I’m already looking forward to the Raceday announcers and commentators!

“Hope it captures the curiosity of many, as it did me, including the media to help raise the charity’s profile. Just brilliant.”

The small charity, which is based in Stafford, was established by Rachel Jordan and Natasha Moore, to provide emotional support and pastoral care to women with breast and other cancers in the local area. The pair met while they were undergoing their own cancer treatment
