Some believe that for muscles or body building one should drink only normal milk with full cream. While some believe that toned gives best results. Milk has been considered a good source of strength for centuries. It contains maximum calcium which plays an important role in strengthening our bones. There are many other benefits of milk. It gives us energy and also protects us from overeating along with benefits like not feeling hungry for a long time.
Well, here we are talking about which milk should be chosen for weight loss. Senior dietitian Geetika Chopra told in a special conversation with TV9 that if you are losing weight then which milk is best to take.
Toned or normal milk…which is best? Expert told
According to dietitian Geetika Chopra, toned milk is generally considered better than normal (full cream) milk for weight loss. Experts say that there is a clear scientific reason behind this because the fat content in toned milk is less (about 3%), whereas the fat in normal milk can be up to 67 percent. Due to less fat, the calories received from toned milk are also less, due to which the total calorie intake remains under control. This is the most important rule of weight loss.
The expert further said that the good thing is that despite less fat, protein, calcium and vitamins remain almost the same in toned milk, which are essential for muscles, metabolism and bone health. Whereas normal milk provides more saturated fat, which can increase fat storage if consumed excessively. However, if a person is very active, eats less or feels hungry for a long time, then limited quantity of full cream milk can also be taken as fat provides satiety. But for strict weight loss goals, toned milk is considered a more scientific and practical choice in daily diet.
Which people should not drink any type of milk?
Professor Dr. Jugal Kishore, Director of the Department of Community Medicine at Safdarjung Hospital, has said that many people do not digest milk and in medical language it is called lactose intolerance. Very few people know that they have the problem of lactose intolerance. In India, even though there is fear of adulteration, people still drink milk before sleeping at night. Experts say that if someone always has the problem of indigestion, acidity or IBS, then he should not consume milk even by mistake. In fact, such people should even ignore milk products. If you have problem related to lactose, you can get it tested from the lab.
If you cannot drink milk and want calcium intake, then you can eat oatmeal for this. Actually, this is the most favorite breakfast for office goers because it is very easy to prepare and is rich in nutrients. Oats, considered a superfood, contain a lot of calcium. It is said that half a cup of oats contains 200 mg calcium.
