New Delhi, 23 January 2026: Preparations for IPL 2026 have been started. After the ICC T20 World Cup, the second mega-festival of cricket in India, IPL, will start. The Women’s Cricket World Cup will start next February. This year the hosts of the World Cup are India and Sri Lanka. IPL will be played in India after the World Cup. Meanwhile, speculations regarding change of ownership of last year’s IPL champion team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have intensified. CEO of Serum Institute of India and well-known industrialist Adar Poonawala has publicly expressed his desire to buy RCB.
Posting on the social media platform, Adar Poonawala wrote, “I am preparing to make a strong and competitive bid for RCB in the coming months. This is one of the best teams in IPL.” After this announcement, there is a lot of excitement among RCB fans. Apart from Adar Poonawala, Vijay Kiragandur, owner of the production house Hombale Films, which has made superhit films like ‘KGF’ and ‘Kantara’, is also believed to be in the race to buy RCB. RCB’s huge fan following and defending champion status make this team a hot property for investors. Now it remains to be seen who will take ownership of the team before the 2026 season.
