Exciting News for Movie Buffs

Chennai: The production team behind director A R Jeeva's intense drama, Lockdown, starring Anupama Parameswaran, has confirmed that the film will hit theaters on January 30 this year.

Lyca Productions shared the news on their X account, stating, "Every pause had a purpose. #Lockdown in cinemas Jan 30. #LockdownInCinemasJan30."

It's worth noting that the film's release has faced multiple delays.

Initially set for December 5 of the previous year, the launch was postponed due to heavy rainfall affecting Chennai and Tamil Nadu, caused by the remnants of cyclone Ditwah, which also impacted Sri Lanka.

Lyca Productions had previously stated, "With the ongoing rains, the release of #Lockdown has been postponed. Your safety comes first. We’ll meet you in theatres soon. #LockdownInCinemasSoon."

They further elaborated, "Due to the ongoing heavy rains and adverse weather conditions, the release of our film #Lockdown has been postponed. In light of the current challenges, we are delaying the release to prioritize the safety of our audience, theatre staff, and partners. Please stay safe and take necessary precautions. We look forward to welcoming you to cinemas soon to experience ‘Lockdown’ on the big screen."

After the weather improved, the team announced a new release date of December 12, but this was again postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances."

The film has received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board, clearing it for release.

Lockdown is a woman-centric narrative that has generated significant anticipation as it is inspired by true events.

The trailer opens with Anupama Parameswaran, portraying the character Anitha, expressing her fears about returning home. She grapples with issues she cannot share with her family, compounded by unwanted advances from men.

As a result, a 21-day nationwide lockdown is declared to curb the spread of COVID-19, forcing Anitha to remain at home.

Her behavior raises concerns for her parents, particularly her mother, who notices Anitha's constant phone checking and irritability. The trailer also depicts Anitha and her friend trying to reach a doctor, who is unavailable due to isolation from the virus.

Anitha's desperate attempts to borrow money from friends worry her parents, leading to a poignant moment where she apologizes to her father, promising not to repeat her actions.

Produced by Subaskaran of Lyca Productions, the film features a talented cast including Charlie, Nirosha, Priya Venkat, Livingston, Indhumathi, Rajkumar, Shamji, Lollu Sabha Maran, Vinayak Raj, Vidhu, Abhirami, Ravathi, Sanjivie, Priya Ganesh, and Asha.

The film's music is composed by NR Raghunanthan and Siddharth Vipin, with cinematography by K.A. Sakthivel. Editing is handled by V J Sabu Joseph, and art direction is by A Jayakumar.

Choreography is led by Sherif and Sri Girish, while stunts are coordinated by Om Sivaprakash. Costume design is by Meenakshi Shreedharan.
