BPL 2025-26 Final Review: Tanzid Hasan's Century Leads Rajshahi Warriors to Maiden Title
Cricket Gully | January 24, 2026 5:39 AM CST

Tanzid Hasan delivered a stunning performance that led the Rajshahi Warriors to their first-ever Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title, securing a convincing 63-run victory over the Chattogram Royals in the final held at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on January 23. His century was the backbone of Rajshahi’s dominant win, turning the final into a rather one-sided affair.

After winning the toss, Chattogram decided to bowl first, hoping their bowling lineup could keep Rajshahi in check on a pitch that was expected to slow down as the evening progressed. However, Hasan quickly shifted the momentum in favor of Rajshahi.

Rajshahi’s innings got off to a strong start thanks to a solid opening partnership between Tanzid Hasan and Sahibzada Farhan. The duo put together 83 runs for the first wicket in just 10.2 overs, setting a strong foundation for the innings. Farhan played a supportive role, scoring 30 runs off 30 balls, but it was Tanzid who truly shone.

Even after Farhan was dismissed, Tanzid kept the innings steady, forming a vital 47-run partnership with Kane Williamson. The experienced New Zealand batter contributed 24 runs off 15 balls, ensuring the scoring rate remained brisk during the middle overs.

Chattogram Collapse as Rajshahi Take Command in Final

Tanzid reached his third T20 century off just 61 balls, becoming only the third player, after Tamim Iqbal and Chris Gayle, to score a hundred in a BPL final. His impressive innings of 100 runs off 62 balls, which included six fours and seven sixes, propelled Rajshahi to a total of 174 for 4. For Chattogram, Mukidul Islam (2/20) and Shoriful Islam (2/33) were the standout bowlers.

In their chase for 175, Chattogram never really looked like they were in the game. Binura Fernando struck early, taking out both Mohammad Naim and Mahmudul Hasan Joy in the same over, leaving the Royals in a tough spot. Hasan Murad then dismissed Hasan Nawaz, captain Mahedi Hasan, and Mirza Baig, who was the top scorer for Chattogram with 39 runs.

Fernando came back to take down the lower middle order, wrapping up with impressive figures of 4 for 9, while Murad added to the tally with 3 for 15. Even though Asif Ali put up a bit of a fight, Chattogram crumbled to 111 all out in just 17.5 overs, falling well short of their target.
