Early life and career beginnings

Valentino was born in May 1932 in the Lombardy region of Italy. His inclination towards fashion started appearing at a very young age. At the age of just 17, he moved to Paris to study, where he trained at the Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. After this, he honed his skills by working with famous designers like Jacques Fath, Balenciaga, Jean Desges and Guy Laroche.

Got recognition from ‘Valentino Red’

A trip to Spain gave a new direction to his career, from where he got the inspiration for his signature color “Valentino Red”. This color later became his identity. Her Fiesta dress made in this color made her famous internationally. When he presented his last collection in 2008, all the models paid tribute to him by wearing red dresses.

Valentino also designed the wedding dress of Princess Madeleine of Sweden. The dress she wore during her wedding in June 2013 was specially designed by Valentino.

Honor and legacy

Former British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman described her as “the epitome of glamor and royal chic”. He believed that Valentino always focused on creating beautiful and gorgeous clothes instead of chasing trends. His designs were made for the red carpet, which were more special and luxurious than ordinary clothes.
