Brazil: Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has raised strong concerns over what he described as growing unilateral tendencies in global politics, warning that such actions could weaken international cooperation and destabilize the existing world order. Speaking at a public gathering in Brazil, Lula emphasized that the current global political climate is entering a highly sensitive and critical phase, where collective decision-making is being sidelined in favor of dominance by powerful nations.

Concerns Over The Future Of Global Institutions
Lula stated that the principles of multilateralism, which form the foundation of international institutions, are under serious threat. He suggested that recent actions and statements by US President Donald Trump indicate an attempt to reshape global governance in a way that concentrates power rather than sharing responsibility among nations. According to Lula, this approach undermines the spirit of cooperation that institutions like the United Nations were created to protect.
He further argued that the increasing preference for unilateral decision-making reflects a “law of the strongest,” where power replaces dialogue. Lula warned that such a shift could result in the erosion of international laws and agreements, making the world more unstable and unpredictable.
Diplomatic Outreach To Reinforce Multilateralism
Highlighting his commitment to preserving global cooperation, Lula revealed that he has intensified diplomatic engagements with several world leaders in recent weeks. These discussions included talks with leaders from Russia, China, India, Hungary, and Mexico, among others. The objective, he said, is to build a coordinated international response aimed at reinforcing multilateral frameworks.
Lula noted that these conversations are part of a broader effort to explore the possibility of organizing an international meeting focused on reaffirming respect for collective decision-making. He stressed that the goal is to ensure that global issues are addressed through dialogue rather than military force or intolerance.
Criticism Of Leadership Through Social Media
In earlier remarks, Lula openly criticized Donald Trump’s communication style, particularly his reliance on social media platforms to express policy positions and global opinions. He argued that leadership conducted through short online statements lacks consistency and respect, making it difficult to maintain stable international relationships.
Lula questioned whether meaningful diplomacy is possible without direct, respectful engagement between leaders. He expressed concern that treating international partners as abstract entities rather than human counterparts damages trust and mutual understanding.
Emphasis On Humanism And Social Responsibility
While addressing a housing handover ceremony in southern Brazil, where more than a thousand homes were distributed under a national housing initiative, Lula linked international politics with social values. He stressed the importance of restoring humanism in both global and domestic relations, emphasizing empathy, respect, and responsibility.
During the same event, he also reiterated his stance on reducing excessive dependence on mobile phones, particularly among children. Defending a policy introduced in 2024 that restricts cellphone use in elementary and middle schools, Lula argued that meaningful human interaction is essential for healthy social development.
Silence On Gaza Oversight Proposal
Despite his outspoken criticism on several global issues, Lula has not yet publicly responded to Donald Trump’s reported invitation for Brazil to join a proposed “Board of Peace” related to oversight in the Gaza Strip. His silence on the matter has drawn attention, though officials have not indicated whether a formal response is forthcoming.
