Tech News : During the World Economic Forum in Davos, European organizations announced the launch of their own social media platform called W. The platform adheres to strict EU data protection laws and is being seen as an alternative to American billionaire Elon Musk’s X platform. It has been introduced at a time when US tariff threats and tension over Greenland are continuously increasing.

According to reports, a group of 54 members of the European Parliament wrote an open letter to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in which they said, “Due to algorithm changes following Elon Musk’s takeover, “And for Musk himself, there is a one-way broadcast system. The European Commission and national governments should not hold talks on a platform where women cannot take part in the debate without risking image-based sexual violence.” After which the new W social media platform has been announced.
It is being told that Anna Zeiter, who recently left the job of Chief Privacy Officer at eBay, will join W as CEO. He announced the launch of this platform on LinkedIn. The wsocial.eu site is currently only open to early testers, and you’ll need a code to access it. Currently, there is no app available for this social media platform. It turns out that W will require identification and photo validation to ensure that its users are human and who they claim to be.
According to reports, the initiative to create this new social media platform is supported by an advisory board and former ministers and business representatives, mainly from Sweden. It is said that W stands for “We”. At the same time, the first V that makes up W means Values, and the second one means Verified. It is reported that the data of this platform will be hosted in Europe in a decentralized manner by European companies. The platform will focus on fighting misinformation.
