Leaks surrounding Apple’s next flagship smartphones have offered fresh details about potential display changes, a new chip and advanced camera upgrades for the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The information also points to a possible shift in Apple’s launch strategy, with indications of a split release instead of unveiling all models at once.
According to the leaks, Apple may release the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max separately from the standard iPhone 18 lineup. While the Pro models are expected to launch in September 2026, the base iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and the next-generation iPhone Air could be pushed to early 2027.
Display changes expected on iPhone 18 Pro models
The leaks suggest that display sizes and refresh rates will remain unchanged, with the iPhone 18 Pro featuring a 6.27-inch 120Hz display and the iPhone 18 Pro Max a 6.86-inch 120Hz panel, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro series. However, Apple is expected to replace the Dynamic Island with a new under-display area.
New A20 Pro chip
The iPhone 18 Pro models are expected to be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip. The chip is tipped to be Apple’s first built on a 2nm process and to use Wafer-Level Multi-Chip Module packaging, marking a significant advancement in performance and efficiency.
Advanced camera upgrades
Leaks indicate that at least one rear camera on the iPhone 18 Pro models could feature a mechanical iris, enabling variable aperture control. This upgrade is expected to improve exposure handling and deliver more natural depth-of-field effects in challenging lighting conditions, reducing dependence on software-based processing.
Expected launch timeline in India
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to be launched in India in September 2026, in line with Apple’s traditional release schedule. The remaining models in the iPhone 18 lineup may follow in early 2027 if the split-launch strategy is implemented.
Likely pricing in India
As per the latest leaks, the iPhone 18 Pro could be priced at around Rs 1,34,900, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max may start at Rs 1,49,900. Final pricing is expected to vary based on storage options and any additional configuration upgrades announced by Apple.
