Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made an important announcement regarding Home Guard recruitment. In the ongoing recruitment process for 45,000 Home Guards in the state, priority will now be given to disaster relief volunteers. The Chief Minister made this statement during a review of the recent mock drills and blackout exercises conducted in 75 districts. He said that the role of the Civil Defence Organization and Home Guards is crucial in any emergency, such as disasters, accidents, war, or large-scale events. The government is continuously working towards strengthening disaster management.
Disaster Relief Volunteers to get priority in Home Guard recruitment
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that the recruitment process for 45,000 Home Guards is currently underway in the state. Priority in this recruitment will be given to volunteers who have worked as disaster relief volunteers selected through the SDRF (State Disaster Response Force). If needed, these disaster relief volunteers will also be provided with special training so that they can play an effective role in emergencies.
The role of the Civil Defence Organization has become more comprehensive.
CM Yogi said that the Civil Defence Organization is no longer limited to managing festivals and celebrations during peacetime. Its responsibilities now include managing traffic during floods, fires, accidents, and large religious or social gatherings, and maintaining order in society during wartime situations. The recent mock drills successfully demonstrated these capabilities.
The importance of the Golden Hour and First Responders
The Chief Minister emphasized that the life of a victim in any accident is the most precious. In such situations, timely treatment during the Golden Hour is crucial. Home Guards and disaster relief volunteers, acting as first responders, can make a significant contribution to relief and rescue operations by reaching the scene promptly.
Regular mock drills are essential for disaster management
CM Yogi said that Uttar Pradesh has witnessed rapid development, increased tourism, and modern infrastructure. In situations like fires or floods in high-rise buildings, if the Civil Defence Organization becomes active before the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF arrive, the loss of life and property can be minimized. Therefore, mock drills should be made a part of regular practice. Several ministers, MLAs, and senior officials were present on this occasion.
