Chennai Super Kings' Thala, MS Dhoni, has started practicing almost two months before IPL 2026. A video of him getting ready for a batting session was shared by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association on social media.
In the video, Dhoni is seen talking with former JSCA honorary secretary Saurabh Tiwary while getting ready for his net practice. After jogging around for a while and doing some stretching, Dhoni put on his pads and launched a few big hits in his trademark style.

MS Dhoni retired from all forms of cricket IN 2020, except IPL, where he continues to represent his beloved CSK. The franchise won five IPL titles under his memorable tenure.
Despite Ruturaj Gaikwad being the lead now, Dhoni remains an essential part of the team and setup. Last season, Dhoni had to take over as CSK captain mid-way after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad got injured and was ruled out. CSK had a poor season, finishing last and missing the playoffs for the second year in a row.
In IPL 2025, history was made as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their first-ever title. Dhoni recently congratulated RCB for ending their long wait for a championship.

While answering a query, Dhoni said:
“I am a part of CSK, so I can’t imagine any other team winning the IPL trophy. But it was long awaited. They (RCB) played really well. Big congratulations to them."
He added:
“When you are a participant in any competition, you always want your own team to win. But it doesn’t always work in your favour."
IPL 2026 Schedule
The IPL 2026 schedule will be announced only after the polling dates are confirmed for the assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, and the Union Territory of Puducherry.
It would be amazing, as always, to see Thala play for his beloved CSK. The spectators and fans are always excited to see his amazing keeping skills as well as batting, especially the 'helicopter shot'.
