New Delhi. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed observers in six states, including Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, to select District Congress Committee presidents as part of the Organization Creation Campaign. The Congress President has approved, with immediate effect, the proposals for the appointment of All India Congress Committee observers for the selection of District Congress Committee presidents.

The states where appointments have been made include Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Nagaland, Manipur, and Meghalaya. Each observer will be deployed in one district, along with observers from the State Congress Committee, to facilitate the selection of District Congress Committee presidents. Twenty-nine observers have been appointed in Bihar, 75 in Uttar Pradesh, three in Goa, 10 in Meghalaya, nine in Manipur, and nine in Nagaland.

Assembly elections are scheduled for next year in Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, the selection of District Congress Committee presidents is considered extremely important. Meanwhile, Congress suffered a crushing defeat in Bihar during the assembly elections, being reduced to just six seats. Following this, discussions of differences and divisions within the party began. On January 23rd, the Congress President, along with the party’s top leadership, held a meeting with Bihar leaders and MLAs, where their concerns were addressed.

The meeting was chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. The meeting focused on organizational weaknesses and growing discontent within the party’s Bihar unit.
According to sources, Rahul Gandhi made it clear that Bihar Congress leaders must recognize their responsibilities and work seriously at the grassroots level.

According to reports, he said that while he is ready to support leaders if needed, his efforts alone cannot revive the party. He stressed that collective efforts, discipline, and active participation of all leaders will be necessary to strengthen the Congress in Bihar.
