New Delhi, January 24, 2026: Imagine that you are driving at full speed on the highway and suddenly there is an accident somewhere ahead, a vehicle brakes hard or there is slippery oil spilled on the road and your car warns you before this danger occurs! This is not a science fiction, but is soon going to become a fact on Indian roads. The central government is bringing a state-of-the-art system to completely change the driving experience in the country, in which vehicles will be able to communicate internally.
To prevent road accidents, the Central Government is working on such technology through which vehicles moving on the road will be able to send signals to each other. The government has set a special radio frequency of 30 gigahertz (30 GHz) for this project. This high-speed signal wave will transmit messages from one vehicle to another in a cloud. If a car going ahead suddenly brakes or meets with an accident, an immediate alert will flash in the system of all the vehicles following, so that the driver can be alert in time. This technology will prove to be a boon not only in accidents but also in bad weather. In dense fog, torrential rain or in the dark of night when the driver’s ability to see is limited, this system will inform about the upcoming danger in advance.
In the meeting of the Road Safety Committee of the Parliament, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had said that the government is now working at four levels. Improvement in black spots (accident zones) and expansion of highways, strict adherence to traffic rules, teaching road safety lessons in schools and facility of trauma center in every district. The ultimate objective of the government is to create such a smart road system where technology itself becomes an assistant to the driver and every passenger can reach his home safely.
