Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is said to have been dealt a "bitter blow" after his latest fall from grace, as the former Duke has practically lost "everything," a royal expert has claimed. King Charles's disgraced brother saw his titles and honours vanish last year, after new details about his links to convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, emerged.
Andrew cut a lonely figure on Christmas Day, spending it in Windsor when the rest of the Royal Family celebrated in Norfolk. He was even forced to hand over his 75-year lease for Royal Lodge, his home, and is expected to move out soon.
The ex-prince is said to be moving to a home within the King's Sandringham estate, while his former wife, Sarah Ferguson, has not confirmed any new premises she may move into.
Now, a royal expert has weighed in on Andrew's situation and said it is unlikely there will be any way back for him, following the latest furore.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond told the Mirror: "Through thick and thin, through lurid headlines, sickening allegations and embarrassing revelations, the York family - as they were - have stuck together.
"Andrew and Fergie were the "bestest friends" and their girls were staunchly loyal to them.
"But now, it seems, everything has changed. The happiest divorced couple in the world are apparently going their separate ways - and at least one of their daughters is questioning whether she can maintain a relationship with her disgraced father."
Ms Bond added that it was "extremely telling" that Andrew's daughters chose to spend Christmas with the royals.
She said: "That must have been very hurtful for Andrew and Sarah: their daughters were showing the world exactly where their loyalties lie."
The expert concluded: "For Andrew, an estrangement from either of his daughters will be a bitter blow. His family was pretty much all he had left after all that has happened.
"Now he's looking more isolated than ever. Family rifts are incredibly complex and hurtful, but sometimes time can heal them.
"For now, though, it seems that Eugenie is set on keeping her distance from her father and living her own life."
