Chelsea have already responded to the reported interest from Manchester United in Cole Palmer. His slow return to form since December has fuelled speculation about a possible move to the club he supported as a boy.
Palmer initially picked up a groin injury at the start of the 2025/26 season, was brought back too quickly, and subsequently aggravated the issue. During his two‑month spell on the sidelines, he also suffered a broken toe, delaying his comeback until just before the festive period.
Since returning, the England midfielder has completed only two full 90‑minute matches, one of which came in last weekend’s win over Brentford, where he scored his fifth goal of the campaign.

However, reports this week have suggested that United are keeping tabs on the 23‑year‑old.
The Telegraph, however, understands that Palmer is part of a new generation of 'untouchables' whom the club have no intention of cashing in on, despite his boyhood allegiance to United
Meanwhile, Blues boss Liam Rosenior is also convinced that Palmer is happy at Stamford Bridge, stating: "I've had numerous conversations with Cole and he seems very happy to be here.
"He's a huge part in our long-term plans. My job and the club's job is to get him into a situation where he can consistently perform to the level he wants to.
"There was frustration in the Brentford game.
"We need to look after him and that's why I didn't involve him in the last game."

Chelsea have been deliberate in avoiding any sense of hierarchy within the squad, making it unlikely they would formally identify or label a group of 'untouchables' in the way Jose Mourinho once did.
In August 2024, Palmer committed his long-term future to Chelsea by signing a two-year contract extension, which keeps him at Stamford Bridge until at least June 2033.
Squashing any speculation, he told club media: "I’m delighted to sign this new deal.
"I achieved a lot in my first season here and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea."
