A shocking incident has come to light from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a young man was locked inside a wooden trunk for nearly 45 minutes after he went to meet his girlfriend at her home. The matter came to the police’s attention only after the girl’s family heard noises coming from the box.

The incident took place in the Chakeri police station area. According to reports, the girl was alone at home on Friday morning as her mother had gone to work and her elder brother had left for farm-related work. Taking advantage of the situation, she called her boyfriend, who lived just a few houses away, to meet her at home.

Around 11:30 am, the boy arrived. However, shortly after, the girl’s aunt, who lives next door, came to the house. Hearing a male voice from inside, she grew suspicious and knocked repeatedly. Panicked, the girl hid her boyfriend inside a trunk and locked it from outside.

When the girl refused to open the door, the aunt locked the main gate from outside and called other family members. Soon, the girl’s brother and mother arrived and searched the house but could not find the boy.

During the search, the family heard sounds coming from inside a box. When asked to hand over the key, the girl denied that anyone was inside and refused to open it. The family then tried to break the lock but failed.

Around noon, the police were informed. Upon reaching the spot, officers questioned the girl and instructed her to unlock the trunk. When it was opened, the boyfriend was found trapped inside.

Angry family members attempted to assault the boy, but the police intervened and ensured his safety. Both the girl and the boy were taken to the police station for questioning.

Chakeri police station in-charge Ajay Prakash Mishra said that the boy lives in the same neighborhood, just seven houses away from the girl’s residence. He added that statements from both individuals are being recorded and further action will be taken based on the findings.
