India secured their final group match victory against New Zealand in the Under-19 World Cup because RS Ambrish took four wickets and captain Ayush Mhatre scored 53 runs. This victory enabled India to finish their three matches without losing any games which secured them the first position in Group B. New Zealand lost the match after India selected to field first because Ambrish took two wickets during the powerplay period. Ambrish dismissed Hugo Bogue and Aryan Mann while Henil Patel took Aryan Mann caught behind which left New Zealand at 17 for 3 when rain interrupted play.

Officials reduced the match to 37 overs after rain delays. New Zealand failed to complete their batting innings. The batting order failed when they lost five players at 22 and seven players at 69. Callum Samson (37*) and Selwin Sanjay (28) put up a 53-run partnership for the eighth wicket which provided their team with some late batting strength. After Ambrish claimed Sanjay as his final wicket Henil returned to clean up the remaining batters.

The Indian team lost their first batsman Aaraon George during the second over of their chase. The scoring speed increased after Mhatre and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi established their batting partnership which resulted in 76 runs during 6.3 overs. Sooryavanshi hit two boundaries and three sixes during his 23-ball 40 which ended when Mason Clarke made an incredible catch at mid-off.

Mhatre scored six sixes and two fours to reach his half-century during 24 balls which allowed him to finish the small target easily. Sanjay eventually dismissed him, but a few overs later, Vedant Trivedi struck the winning runs to seal India’s win.

Excellent performance by Nihar Parmar:

Nihar Parmar delivered an exceptional performance through his 4 for 30 bowling performance which dismissed Tanzania for 131 runs while he scored an unbeaten 53 runs to lead Japan to their first World Cup victory. The teams met in a play-off for 15th and 16th positions, and the result handed Tanzania the wooden spoon.

Tanzania chose to bat first because their opener Acrey Hugo provided them with a strong beginning. He lost partner Karim Kiseto in the second over but built a 79-run stand with Ayaan Sharrif. The highest scores of the innings belonged to Hugo who made 55 runs and Shariff who made 40 runs. The team experienced a batting failure after they lost their second wicket at 81 runs and their third wicket at 118 runs because they lost seven players for only 13 runs. Nikhil Pol achieved 3 wickets for 23 runs which assisted Parmar in his mission to eliminate middle order players from the game.

Japan maintained its composure during the chase because Parmar and Taylor Waugh established a 122-run opening partnership which lasted 27 overs and brought Japan closer to a historic victory. Waugh reached 47 runs before he got his run out but No. 3 Hugo Tani-Kelly walked in and hit a four and a six in quick time to wrap up the match.

This tournament marked Tanzania's first entry into World Cup competitions. Japan secured their first win of the tournament despite losing all their previous matches. The team lost their 16th-place playoff match against Nigeria which they first played in 2020.
