Arsenal are dreaming of a first Premier League title since 2004 as they sit top of the table with 16 matches left to play. Mikel Arteta's side will aim to maintain their impressive form when they host Manchester United at the Emirates on Sunday.

The Gunners are excelling both domestically and on the continent, having comfortably dispatched Inter Milan during the week. They have secured victories in all seven of their Champions League fixtures and are virtually certain to finish top of the group phase.

Michael Carrick's United present the challenge this weekend, arriving in north London following a 2-0 derby triumph over top-flight title contenders Manchester City last Saturday. The Red Devils did Arsenal a favour that day, although Arteta's men were not able to fully capitalise, having only managed a 0-0 draw at relegation contenders Nottingham Forest that same day.

Arsenal and Manchester United are reportedly exploring a potential move for Levante forward Karl Etta Eyong.

Caughtoffside claim that the player is attracted to the idea of joining Arteta's men. They are among the biggest clubs in the world and he may look to fulfil his potential with them.

The report adds that Arsenal have been regularly fighting for trophies, and any young player will be attracted to the idea of joining them. Eyong has scored six goals across all competitions so far this season.

'Interest' in Madrid star

Arsenal have reportedly been dealt a boost in their reported interest in their reported interest in Real Madrid star Victor Valdepenas.

Recent reports have claimed that Valdepenas has been named as someone who could feature on their summer radar. The 19-year-old made his debut for Real last month and is highly rated by the Spanish giants which could make signing him very difficult.

It has been claimed a €50million (£44m) release clause is in in the fresh terms he signed recently with that contract expiring in 2029.

And Marca, via Football365, claim that Xabi Alonso’s exit from Madrid has ‘harmed’ Valdepenas. It is said he feels ‘deceived’ by new boss Alvaro Arbeloa amid ‘special interest’ from Arsenal.

Valdepenas has reportedly received offers to change the scenery before the January transfer window ends.

It is claimed that chief among his suitors are Arsenal
