Republic Day Parade Route: If you plan to watch the January 26th parade, first learn the best way to reach the venue by metro, bus, or car. Which station to get off at and which modes of transport are best?
Tomorrow, January 26th, the entire country will celebrate Republic Day. On this special occasion, a grand parade will be organized on Kartavya Path in New Delhi, as every year, showcasing India's military might, cultural heritage, and national unity. Security and traffic arrangements have been made extremely strict in the capital for the parade.
In preparation for Republic Day 2026, traffic bans and diversions have been implemented in several areas of Central Delhi. Vehicular movement will be particularly restricted around Vijay Chowk and its surrounding areas. According to the Delhi Traffic Police, some roads will be completely closed to the general public at specified times.
If you are watching the parade by bus, the best option is to take buses on the Red Fort route. Several DTC buses from different parts of Delhi go to the Red Fort, Delhi Gate, and ITO areas.
From there, you can walk through the safety barricades or take designated shuttle routes towards Kartavya Path. It is advisable to leave early in the morning to avoid crowds and route diversions. Therefore, pay attention to the routes.
For those coming by metro, this is considered the easiest and most reliable method. Spectators seated in the southern part of the parade area are advised to alight at Udyog Bhawan Metro Station. For those in the enclosures in the northern part, Central Secretariat Metro Station will be the most convenient.
Passengers will also be informed about the correct gates and routes through announcements at the stations. Those planning to come by car should plan their journey carefully. Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, Raisina Road, and several surrounding roads are closed.
In such a situation, it would be better to use routes like Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, Sarai Kale Khan, or IP Flyover. From there, you will have to proceed via designated parking areas and pedestrian routes. Leaving home without checking traffic conditions can lead to increased difficulties.
