Winter storm has jammed the entire America. Due to this, thousands of flights in America had to be cancelled. The storm lashed much of the country on Saturday (January 24), causing power outages and blocking roads due to severe snow.

More than 40 percent of America’s population, or about 140 million people, is under winter storm warning from New Mexico to New England. The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain from Saturday through Monday from the southern Rocky Mountains to New England. National Weather Service meteorologist Alison Santorelli said the snow will melt very slowly and will not go away as quickly, which will greatly hinder relief efforts.

President Donald Trump had approved emergency declarations for a dozen states as of Saturday and is expected to declare more for more states. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the Federal Emergency Management Agency has deployed essential supplies, personnel and search and rescue teams to several states. Noem said that we simply appeal that everyone show understanding and stay at home if possible.

Nearly 120,000 power outages were reported Saturday due to the winter storm, according to poweroutage.us. Which includes about 50,000-50,000 power cuts in Texas and Louisiana. In Shelby County, Texas, near the Louisiana border, the weight of the snow snapped pine trees, causing downed power lines. About a third of the county’s 16,000 residents were without power.

Nearly 13,000 flights were canceled across the US on Saturday and Sunday, according to flight tracking website FlightAware. All flights Saturday and Sunday morning were canceled at Will Rogers International Airport in Oklahoma City.
