Madiwala police have arrested four persons for allegedly assaulting a young woman and her friend who were standing by the roadside late at night.

The arrested have been identified as Vijay Kumar, David, Tejaswi and Mohith. The incident occurred two days ago on a roadside in Marutinagar under the limits of the Madiwala police station.

According to the police, the accused, who had reportedly returned after attending a party nearby, attempted to behave inappropriately with the woman. When the woman and her friend objected, the accused allegedly attacked both of them.

Based on the complaint lodged by the woman, a case was registered and the accused were subsequently arrested. Police said some of the accused are residents of Madikeri, Chikkamagaluru and Bengaluru, and are employed in private hospitals and companies.

Further investigation is under way.
