Tamil cinema icon and president of 'Tamizhaga Vetrik Kadagam', Vijay, has issued a strong statement amidst the ongoing CBI investigation and the suspension of his film's release. During a significant meeting with 3,000 party officials in Mahabalipuram, he asserted that he would not yield to any pressure. He characterized the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections not merely as a contest but as a democratic battle, urging his supporters to act as commandos in this fight.
Critique of Opposition Parties
Vijay launched a sharp critique against the ruling DMK and the opposition AIADMK. He remarked that contemporary politicians have strayed from the ideals of C.N. Annadurai, including those whose party names include 'Anna'. He accused the ruling parties of transforming polling booths into mere 'fake voting centers'. Vijay called upon his supporters to safeguard every vote and engage with the public.
Launch of Statewide Campaign Tour
Leaders from the TVK have announced that the party will commence a major campaign tour across all 234 assembly constituencies in Tamil Nadu starting tomorrow. The objective is to garner grassroots support ahead of the elections. Regarding potential alliances, the party clarified that any decision to collaborate with other parties will ultimately rest with Vijay.
Background of the Controversy
The 51-year-old Vijay has been facing challenges recently. A stampede during his rally in Karur last year resulted in the tragic loss of 41 lives, prompting a CBI investigation. He has already been questioned twice in Delhi regarding this incident. Additionally, the release of his new film 'Jana Nayakan' has been halted by the censor board, leading him to seek legal recourse to expedite its approval.
