Saurashtra spinner Parth Bhut revealed that advice from Ravindra Jadeja helped him dismiss Shubman Gill twice during a Ranji Trophy match. Bhut was instrumental in Saurashtra's dominant 194-run victory over Punjab at Niranjan Shah Stadium C in Rajkot. For the left-arm spinner, the most important wicket was that of India's Test and ODI captain, Shubman Gill.
Bhut first got Gill out lbw without giving him a chance to score in the first innings. In the second innings, he dismissed Gill again in a similar way, with Gill scoring only 14 runs off 32 balls. After getting the Indian captain out twice, Bhut said he followed advice from Ravindra Jadeja, who told him to bowl aggressively to Gill.
The Times of India quoted Bhut saying:
“Jaddu bhai is a legend of the game. He has played a lot of cricket and always shares his experience. Ahead of the Punjab match, he addressed us in the dressing room and said that we had to dominate and play attacking cricket. ‘Attack karna hai’ — that’s all he said. When Shubman, who has also played a lot of cricket, came in to bat, Jaddu bhai told me to attack him and be aggressive, and that’s what worked for me.”
Bhut, who looks up to Ravindra Jadeja, thanked the all-rounder for always guiding him in his career. He said he used to travel to Jamnagar just to watch Jadeja play or practise. The left-arm spinner also shared how happy he was to play alongside his hero.

He said:
“One fine day, I managed to speak to him. When he got to know that I also played junior cricket, I got the chance to bowl to the senior team — that’s how it all began. He always says, ‘Keep working hard. There is no substitute for hard work. Keep working hard, and it will pay off one day.’ That’s the approach he has towards cricket. Even at this age, he works extremely hard in the nets. Youngsters get tired, but he doesn’t. He is my idol. He is my hero. I took up cricket because of him. I couldn’t have asked for more than sharing the field with a legend like him.”
Bhut took 5/33 in the first innings and an impressive 5/8 in the second. He also scored an unbeaten 37 off 40 balls against Punjab, which earned him the Player of the Match award. In his first-class career, the 28-year-old has taken 76 wickets in 36 innings, including 7 five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket matches. He has also scored 571 runs, with one hundred and one fifty.
In the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy, Bhut is Saurashtra's top wicket-taker, claiming 20 wickets in five innings at an average of 11.90, including three five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket match.
