13 people from Tamil Nadu have been honored with the Padma Award. Among them, Kallipatti Ramaswami Palaniswami has been honored with the Padma Award for Medicine. SKM Mailnandan has been honored with the Padma Award for social work. Gayatri Balasubramaniam and Rajini Balasubramaniam have been jointly awarded the Padma Award in Arts.
