India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has launched a great service for Aadhaar cardholders. Now you can change your mobile number in just 5 minutes using only your fingerprint (biometric) without any paperwork.

How to update your mobile number in Aadhaar?
Changing your mobile number in Aadhaar is now as easy as getting a recharge at a nearby shop. First, you need to visit your nearest IPPB center or post office access point. The good news is that this facility is now available at almost every small and large post office. You don't need to go to a major Aadhaar center; just ask the staff at your local post office about this service.

Share your Aadhaar number and new number details.
Upon reaching the center, you don't need to fill out any forms. You only need to verbally provide your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the new mobile number you want to update. Since this is a digital process, you don't need your old number, making it ideal for those who have lost their old SIM card.

Fingerprint Biometric and Instant KYC
Once you provide your information, the bank official will ask you to place your finger or thumb on the biometric machine. This is the safest and most modern way to verify your identity. As soon as your fingerprint matches the Aadhaar database, your e-KYC is instantly completed. You don't even need to show your original Aadhaar card or provide a photocopy.

The number will be linked upon receiving SMS.
As soon as the biometric verification is successful, your new mobile number will be registered in the system. Immediately or shortly thereafter, you will receive a confirmation SMS on your new mobile number.
This means your new number is now linked with your Aadhaar. You will be able to receive OTPs on this new number for any government schemes or banking services linked to Aadhaar in the future.

How much will it cost?
A very nominal fee, as determined by IPPB, will be charged for this entire process. There are no hidden charges. The best part is that you don't even need to get your photo taken or stand in long queues. As soon as the biometric verification is successful, your new number is digitally linked to your Aadhaar.
