Indian Railways Refund Rules for Passengers: A large number of people in India travel by train. Whether for long distances or short, trains are considered a comfortable and affordable mode of transport. Booking tickets is also easy, both online and offline. However, the biggest problem for passengers arises when the train is significantly delayed or suddenly canceled. In such a situation, people wonder whether they will get a refund for their ticket. Let's find out.

This trick for UPI payments without internet is useful for everyone; just do this for quick payments.

Indian Railways has established clear refund rules for the convenience of passengers, and every passenger needs to be aware of them.

What do railway rules say about train delays?
According to Indian Railways rules, if your train is delayed by 3 hours or more from its scheduled time, the passenger is entitled to a full refund of their ticket. This rule applies to all classes – General, Sleeper, Third AC, Second AC, and First AC.

It is important to note that to receive a refund, the passenger must not travel. If you board the train, you will not receive a full refund under this rule.

What needs to be done to get a refund?
If your train is delayed by 3 hours or more and you do not wish to travel, you need to file a TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt).

Easy way to file a TDR
First, go to the official IRCTC website. (www.irctc.co.in or http://www.irctc.co.in)
Log in with your user ID and password.
After logging in, go to the 'My Account' section.
Click on 'My Transactions'.
Now, select the 'File TDR' option.
Here you will see your booked ticket.
Select the ticket and choose the reason for TDR (Train Late More Than 3 Hours).
Upon submission, your request will be sent to the railways.

When and how is the refund received? The railway accepts your TDR (Ticket Deposit Receipt) request after verification. If everything is found to be in order, the full ticket amount is refunded to the same bank account from which the ticket was booked. The refund usually takes a few days to process.

Keep these points in mind:
It is important to file the TDR on time if the train is delayed.
A TDR can be filed even after the chart has been prepared, according to the rules.
A full refund is not provided after the journey has been completed.
If you are aware of these rules, you can avoid losses in case of train delays. By taking the right steps at the right time, you can get your full refund.
