Meghan Markle faced intense backlash after she briefly spoke about Princess Lilibet at the Sundance Film Festival. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, made the comments during her surprise appearance at the film festival in Utah with Prince Harry. Their debut at the event came as they celebrated the premiere of their documentary, Cookie Queens. The couple, who serve as executive producers through their company Archewell Productions, spoke about the project on the red carpet.

A former Girl Scout herself, Meghan said: "It really embeds such great values from the get-go. I was a Girl Scout, my mom was my troop leader and I think the value of friendship, of being dedicated to a goal, as you see that in Cookie Queens, is so reflective of how these girls stick to something that is important to them and don't give up." Asked whether Princess Lilibet, four, could potentially follow in her footsteps, Meghan responded: "It's interesting, I think we'll consider to explore, continue to explore whatever feels right."

She added: "Working on this project has been incredibly special as parents, as mothers to be able to see something our girls will be able to enjoy and watch as well."

But the update only left fans with a furious response as one declared: "More rubbish."

Also commenting on the post shared by Sky News Australia, another said: "Don't care. Next story please."

"Being a Girl Scout gives you self- belief??? Oh please! When is this woman going to stop posturing? We are all sick of her ramblings," a third weighed in, while another claimed: "Making it all about her again. As ever."

The couple's joint red carpet appearance came days after Prince Harry touched down in the UK for his trial against the publisher of the Daily Mail.

Harry, 41, is among several high-profile figures pursuing legal action against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) over allegations that the publisher carried out or commissioned unlawful activities, including hiring private investigators to plant listening devices in cars, "blagging" private records, and accessing private phone conversations.

Other well-known figures have joined Harry in suing the publisher, including Sir Elton John, David Furnish, Liz Hurley, and Sadie Frost.

While giving evidence in London's High Court last week, Harry described how ANL had made his wife's life "an absolute misery" and described the court battle a "horrible experience" for his family.
