What will change in Aadhaar
At present, about 9 crore Aadhaar authentications take place every day. Of these, about 1 crore are being done through face authentication. The government aims to do 100 crore authentications every month through facial recognition.
In the new system, face recognition technology will be updated from time to time with the help of AI. With this, people will not need to give fingerprints or other biometrics again and again. The government has updated the biometrics of 5 crore children and adolescents by December. This facility will continue free till September 2026.

On this basis, a new Aadhaar system will be prepared for the next five years. The current contract expires in 2027. After this a new contract will be signed till 2032.
To prepare this roadmap, an expert committee was formed under the chairmanship of UIDAI Chairman Neelkanth Mishra. It includes technology experts and academicians from India and abroad.
